Partners in Play was formed in 2002 as a collaboration between pediatric therapists, parents and community partners. Our Mission is to provide comprehensive educational, recreational and therapeutic programs for children with special needs and their families. We do this in fun, accessible non-traditional settings within the community. By developing cooperative relationships and affiliations with existing community resources, we help make their programs more accessible to all children.
- We partner with many organizations, using our skills as therapists to build train staff on how to develop programs and make modifications to include children who might not otherwise be able to participate. In the past we have developed programs in swimming, soccer, horseback riding, and the arts which have transitioned into independent, integrated community options for children and their families.
Our summer programs continue to evolve to address gaps in existing options for children who may need some ongoing intervention to be ready for the school in the fall, but need a break from the usual routine, to have fun and socialize in a different setting from traditional one on one therapy. See our programs for more information on this year’s focus.
We are always interested in developing new projects. If your organization is struggling to become more inclusive or if you are a parent who is frustrated by a lack of accessible programs for your child, we would love to hear from you.
